2017 Nissan Rogue Sport | Why Buy?
Nissan’s littler SUV has big mass-market appeal.
– Detroit, Michigan
It’s a familiar story across car segments: As the mainstays grow to offer more room for passengers and cargo, there’s space for automakers to slide a smaller vehicle underneath them in the model range. For Nissan, that meant importing the hugely popular Qashqai to the U.S., renaming it Rogue Sport, and offering it as the fun-size version of the successful Rogue.
The Nissan Rogue Sport is a foot shorter in length than the regular Rogue, but it’ll still fit five passengers and their belongings. It also has almost all of the convenience and safety features found on the bigger Rogue, as well as optional all-wheel drive. The styling of the two SUVs is even almost identical. Picking between them, then, comes down to questions of how much space a car shopper needs.
Of course, the Nissan Rogue Sport plays in an increasingly crowded segment known as the subcompact crossover. Strong entries from Honda, Mazda, Jeep, and Toyota all compete against Nissan’s newcomer for shoppers’ dollars. Does the Nissan have what it takes to stand out as the segment’s must-buy? Find out in our latest Why Buy? video review.
